No Cable or Dish Here

Posted on | August 1, 2005 |

I have one channel that I get through my rabbit ears and that is CBS. I used to have dish service and cable service and no big surprise here- there never seemed to be anything on. Out of over 100 channels there was nothing on. Okay maybe sometimes there was something but not all the time. So I got rid of it all and just watch what I can for free. I am the informercials dream come true… the only thing I can do is turn it off.

Sure I miss cable and some of the shows that I watched like the Cartoon Network, Nip/Tuck, Forensic Files but the cost outweighs the good. It is way too expensive to get alot of channels I don’t need or watch. Maybe if the cable and dish providers would let us pick our own channel lineup and pay for that I would be all for it. I really dont need 5 news channels 1 is good enough for me. That goes the same for any multichannel of the same thing. How many ESPNs do I need? Really none. Out of 100 channels I might watch maybe 20 at the most and I don’t even think that is that high.

I think that I am happier with one channel. First off it is less stress. No arguments over the remote. I actually watch the evening news. Something that I haven’t done since I was a kid. And we relied on bunny years for all our tv needs for all long time. I watch less tv. And that is always a good thing. I don’t want my kid to be so in love with tv that she does nothing else. I want her to go outside or heavens read something. Life shouldnt revolve around tv. Dont get me wrong I watch tv every night, I dont watch soaps. So the tv is off for most of the day. Good for me. Maybe more people should try that every once in awhile… no tv and see where life leads them. Who knows you might actually enjoy peace and quiet.

I agree with you but the 50 inch Pioneer Plasma in the other room is very daunting…
