Before I am Famous

literature is something we infer after the story is told

Hurricane Rita

Another strong and largehurricane is bearing down on the Gulf Coast, yet again. I remember a few years ago when it seemed hurricanes came up the eastern seaboard. Or is it just my imagination? My family and I used to cacation in the famed hurricane alley, The Outer Banks of North Carolina.

There the houses are built on stilts to protect from the storm surge. On Ocracoke, there is one main road and only one way to get off the island, by ferry. Then all way the barrier islands there is only one road to get to the mainland. And boy does the traffic pile up when alot of people at the same time want to leave.

I can’t believe that in the wake of another damaging hurricane, the people of Huston can’t leave as quickly as they would like to. It is not that they don’t want to. After Katrina, mostly everyone wants to leave. The main road out of Huston is jam packed. That is pretty terrible. But I hope that it clears soon and maybe the traffic starts moving. The hurricane is coming and coming sooner then anyone would like.

But I see, we have already learned lessons from Katrina. FEMA is on it’s way and National Guard is ready too. So I again have the peoplele in the path of destruction in my thoughts. I hope many people leave and many lives can go one living. I truly hope we learned from Katrina and hopefully the death toll will be so much less.

The truth of the matter is there will be death. Some people are choosing to stay. And on CBS Evening News it seems as though many are elderly or sick and they want to stay and they say if it is there time, it is there time.

I wish everyone good luck and good wishes and a safe sojourn.
