My Life 10/30/05

Published by J Scott under meaningful meanderings

I was pondering lately…

I have been thinking about the story that I wrote for the writing contest. I really like the stroy and I think that there is some pontential to turn it into something more. See, I am the kind of writer who is very detail oriented. This might be one reason that I have yet to finish a novel. Believe it or not, I am working on a novel and I really like that story.

Did you ever read or see The Tommyknockers a story written by Stephen King? Well the main character is a writer and he has this machines courtesy of the tommyknockers where it will type his story by reading his mind. That is what I need. Because my brain works faster than my hands do.

Well anyway, a little tangent there. The story I wrote is posted a week or so back and the word limit was 1,000. So obviously there is much room for growth. First I was thinking to turn the story into a screenplay because I think that is a very visual story but now I am thinking turning it into a long story maybe novel and try selling to it someone to make into a movie.

Writing a novel is a huge undertaking and the more that I am working on my own, the more I appreciate the writers that writer novels for a living. I never when is too much or not enough. Like I said, I like a lot of detail because it allows the story to come alive. At least, I think so. The weekly story I am writing right now is a much shortened version of what I can do.

But that story is a little different, people aren’t going to want to read a huge chapter before onto the next blog. Well I think soon, I work on my new novel. Since I write it out on paper first, I know very old school, if I don’t post for a couple of days, my arthritis is more than likely acting up.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Another Win!!!

Happy Valley is roaring after The Nittany Lions upset the Boilermakers with a score of 33-15. Right now Penn State is 8-1 for the season. Last week, I predicted that Lions will win by 14 points but as you see I was wrong. Good thing, no one bets on my predictions. Currently the Lions are sitting at #11 but I am sure by next week they will move back in to the top 10.

Next week, the Nittany Lions stay at home to play against Wisconsin. They have the same record of the Nittany Lions. So I am sure this will be one of the toughest games the Lions will play. I think even tougher than Michigan Wolverines. The Badgers are 5-1 for the Big Ten Conference, 8-1 for the season and ranked #15. In their game today, they trounced the Illini.

So who will win next week? I would love to say Penn State but this a very tough call. Both teams are excellent. Both score high and have a great defence. I am going to say Penn State will win by 1 or 3 points. And if Penn State does not win the Badgers will by 1 or 3 points. This is going to be a low scoring- high-intensity game. I think all fans will be on the edge of their seats.

Next week is the final home game in the regular season for the Lions and let’s hope they go out with a bang.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

GI Blues Song Chapter 12

Published by J Scott under gi blues song

Jason wakes Daylene with a kiss on Sunday morning.

“Mornin, beautiful.”

“Mornin. What time do we have to be at Paul’s?” Daylene asks.

“Sometime around noon. They go to church.”

Later that day, Jason and Daylene drive out in the bayou. Paul and Jess live in a little blue house with a chainlink fence around the yard. Two kids, a boy and a girl, run around the yard. They get out of the car and ht ekids hug Jason. A pregnant woman comes to the door and hollers for the children to go in the house.

“Hi ya, you must be Daylene and I am Jess. Why doncha ya’ll come in. Don’t mind the kids they’re a little rowdy.” Daylene shakes Jess’s hand.

“Paul is out back ya’ll can go on back.”

Jason leads her to the back yard. Paul is standing in front of the grill and waves quickly before tending his fire. Jess brings out a pitcher of tea and the kids follow her and run out in the yard. Jason grabs a beer from the cooler and stands next to Paul. Daylene and Jess sit at the table. They don’t say anything, just sit there and stare outat the children.

“Well I’ve known Jason for a few years now and I can’t believe he’s gettin married.”

“Sometimes, I think that we’re movin too quick. But I know this is right.”

“You wanna know what I think? No offence to you or anything. I think he is scared you know they might go to war. He always wanted a family. I think he’s afraid to die. “

“He hasn’t been called yet.” Daylene says.

“No, you right they ain’t been called but the chances are pretty good.” she replies.

The sit in silence again. Daylene feels uncomfortable from what Jess said. Jess must not like her for her to say that. How could Jess say that?

“Look, I’m sorry Daylene. I just want you to know the reality of what is going on. Look he has had other women before you. And the thought of war still loomed around him then. So it’s gotta be true love. He did pick you to be his wife, right. So we friends?”

“Yeah, okay friends. I thought about the same things. But you know something true in your heart you just know it is true? That is what I feel with Jason. Things are right with him. Everything is right.”

“I feel the same way about Paul. I don’t want him to go. I love him too much. But if he does he does, nothin I can do about it.”

Paul and Jason come over with the burgers and hotdogs. Paul calls the kids to sit down. Jason sits next to Day and grabs her hand under the table. Then squeezes it. They glance at each other. She just wants to take him home and make love to him for the rest of the day and night and for the rest of their lives. He mouths “I love you” and she does the same. He kisses her on the cheek and kids scream ewww and everyone laughs.

I know I have been a bad blogger…

I know I have not been writing a lot lately. I have been doing a lot of thinking about my future.Pretty much what I really want to do. One is going to school to be a paralegal. I love the law and the legal system. I always have. The other thing I love is the English language. So I thought I could be a freelance proofreader and editor. Probably more small businesses because they are not going to pay a lot of money for this service. In fact, when I worked for Alpha Watch, I wrote and edited their product descriptions and catalogue. It was something that I really enjoyed. Well I don’t know, this is number 1 reason why I left Penn State, I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Look for Chapter 12 from my weekly love story tommorrow.

Have a nice day everyone.

PSU v Illinois

A Slaughter in Champagne, Illinois

There was a slaughtering in Champagne, Illinois, Saturday night. Of course with a final score of 63-10 Penn State, how could anyone not call that a slaughter? Penn State scored 9 touchdowns. The Illini could not stop the blue and white train. The Nittany Lions only allowed one field goal and a touchdown. Penn State has a season record of 7-1. Their only losing game to Michigan.

After the Michigan game the number 8 Lions fell to number 12 but now they stand at #11. It is hard to say that there is still a chance for the Nittany Lions to go the Rose Bowl but they wil definately win the championship game and go on to a bowl game.

Next week, the Lions are back home for homecoming and they will be playing the Purdue Boilermakers. The Boilermakers lost their game Saturday night to Wisconsin. Purdue is 2-5 for the season. They have not won any Big Ten Conference.

Look for the Nittany Lions to score a lot of points but not as many as this past game. Purdue will be on the board with points as well. I think the Lions will win by 14 points. Mot likely with a score of 25-21.

We will just have to see. They are calling for snow this week in the area. If it comes it should make for interesting football game.

Have a nice day everyone.

V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N

It is finally here!!! The last camping trip for us for this year. We rented a cabin at Nittany Mountain Campground and we are leaving tommorrow. I can’t wait. I really need to get away and have some fun. They have some halloween activities planned; a halloween party, trick or treating and a haunted house with a pitch black indoor maze. Carrie, my daughter, is going to be a little dragon. She looks really cute in the costume.

What sucks… it seems like it is going to be raining at least on Saturday. But oh well, at least it should be nice 2 of the days. We won’t be back until this Sunday but I won’t have a fresh post until probably Monday sometime.

Let’s hope the Lions win, I’ll make sure I post the highlights on Monday.

So have a nice weekend everyone!!! I know I will. :)

GI Blues Song Chapter 12

Published by J Scott under gi blues song

Daylene sees Jason and his friend sitting at his usual table in the front. Paul looks like Jason with the muscular build and shaved head. Must be a friend from the reserves she thinks to herself. At her break she goes over to the table. Both of the men stand up. Paul extends his hand and she takes it.

“Day, this is my good friend, Paul. This is the girl I’m marrying.”

“Nice to meet ya. Old Jason told me a lot about yo,” Paul says.

“Same here,” she replies.

They sit down and paul orders them all beers. She pulls out a cigarette and lights up. The beer comes to the table and Paul makes a toast, “To my best friend and his future wife. Cheers.”

“Cheers,” Daylene and Jason say together.

” I can’t wait until we to go Iraq,” Paul says, ” I’m ready to get them terrorists.”

Jason shoots Paul an icy look, “Yeah we don’t know if we’ll be called up for duty. We probably won’t be.”

“That’s bull shit, Jason and you know it. They already called some units from Mississippi and Alabama. It’s just a matter of time.”

Daylene thinks again about Jason and his intentions. This already crossed her mind earlier today while watching the news. She puts out her cigarette and looks at Jason. He seems to be getting a little pissed at Paul.

“What da ya think, Daylene?” Paul asks her.

“About what?”

“You know the war.”

“Uhh, I don’t know. I don’t really follow too much on that stuff. I mean we should get the bad guys who did crashed those planes into those buildings and all.”

“See, Jason she is a supporter of the war effort.”

“Well, I got to go back. So Paul it was nice to meet you. Will you be here when I am done my second set?” Daylene says.

“Probably not, the old lady will give me hell if I come in too late. You’ll meet her Sunday. Jason and you are coming over to my place for a barbeque. So, I’ll see you then.”

“Okay then. Looking forward to it. Nice meeting ya.” He shakes her hand again and kisses her on the cheek.

She has a hard time concentrating on her songs. She looks at Jason and he smiles and mouths I love you. She forgets why she was worried. She loves him and he loves her. She was pissed that he said she would go to Paul’s house but who cares? These are his friends and she finds it endearing that he wants her to meet his friends. Because that’s what lovers do. She has been waiting for a love like this. Many of her other men, she never met anybody that was either his friend or family. She only saw them alone and the night would end up in his bed. So, this is true love.

She finishes her show and embraces Jason and kisses him hard ont he mouth.

“Don’t pay no attention to Paul.We probably won’t go. He never was like this. All of a sudden he is trigger happy.”

“It don’t matter, Jase. I love you no matter what.”

“I hope you ain’t mad that I spoke for you. Saying you’ll go to the barbeque. You might like Jess. She is really nice and always been good to me.”

“I’m not mad. Thanks for taking me.” Daylene says.

“Why wouldn’t I. You ain’t a girl just to have sex with, your my lady.”

Should Roe v Wade be Overturned?

Published by J Scott under news thoughts

With Harriet Miers’ impending comfirmation hearings, a lot of people want to know want she will want to overturn Roe v. Wade. Abortion, for as long as this country is they way we know it, will alwaybe be the forerunner of any political and judicial discussions. There is no easy answer and I really don’t think there could be ever be a compromise. abortion is going to be either legal or not.

I know of a girl who had an abortion. She was young and dumb and had unprotected sex with a man. She was afraid of her parents and felt the procedure was the only way out. A few years later, this same girl was raped. And she became pregnant from the rape. She could not go through with another abortion. It was very painful for her as her the baby grew becasue of what happened. After the birth, she gave the baby up for adoption.

I like to think that many women might actually feel this way. They have one and they could never, ever do it again.

From what I hear from this girl it is horrid, hearing the vaccuum. But not only that, the mental anguish she felt sfter that will always be with her.

I know there are women out there that use this as form of birth control.

I think that we should leave abortion legal. Respect the decision of the previous justice who thought this was constitiunional. After all, captiol punishment is not against the law. Perhaps, instead of overturing Roe v. Wade. there should be some real education about abortion. What the procedure is and maybe have women who have had one come and talk to young men and women about the truth. Almost scaring the kids so they would think twice about their decisions. Maybe teaching the truths about it without bias, maybe the abortion rate will go down. Maybe it will go down so much that maybe many won’t happen. Already teen preganancy is on the decline.

These are my opionions, this won’t give anyone really any satisfaction. I do believe in choice, informed and educated choices.

Have a nice day.

Some Advice Needed

I have been reading a lot of blogs and it seems to me that there need to be a uniform blog with the same topic or topics. You know like a blog on politics or movie reveiws or whatever. Here I am with a blog that I work on preety much every day and I post just about anything that I find interesting or post orginal works. I do this becasue I thought if I did something different everyday that people will keep coming back and see what I ma writing about. That is also why I have the weekly serial love story.

So if you can tell me, what makes person keep coming back to a particular blog? What can I do to improve my blog? What do you look for in a good blog?

I figure the people that read blogs everyday should know the answers. Of course everyone has a different opinion. But I’d like to know. So if you can either email me or post a comment here I would really appreciate it.

PSU v Michigan

Published by J Scott under lion lowdon

The Lion Lowdown

Today number #8 Nittany Lions went to Ann Arbor to play against Michigan. With one second left in the 4th quarter Michigan makes a touchdown for a final score of 27-25 Michigan. The last minute of play was very intense for both teams as Penn State was behind by 7 points. They made a touchdown taking the lead for the game for a short time. Fans and the team felt they and the cat in the bag until Michigan made their final play.

Penn State is still a great team. Who knows why they lost. Maybe it was because Michigan has been losing lately and they were playing extra hard. Or Penn State getting a little too cocky. You can’t win them all. Penn State is now at 6-1 for the season. Which is still better then they have been doing for years now.

Next week they head to Illinois. Right now Illinois is 2-4 for the season and 0-3 in the Big Ten Conference. Pretty much being clobbered by every Big Ten Team. Penn State should have no problem also clobbering the Illini. Look for high scoring by Penn State and no to very little scoring for Illinois. Penn State should win by at least 21 points.

The Rose Bowl could still be in Penn State’s future.

Have a nice Day!
