GI Blues Song Chapter 23 b

Published by J Scott under gi blues song

Everyday since Jason left, Daylene checks the mail anxiously waiting for a letter. It has been a month since he left and she feels empty. She goes to work and sings her songs but her heart isn’t in it. Many times she leaves the stage in tears. The band just keeps playing. But there is something else, Daylene can feel it but not sure what it is.

Wednesday, she stops over at Jess’s place. Jess opens the door, ” Hey there. You go it?”

“Ya”

Daylene steps into the house. The kids are napping. “Well, good luck,” Jess says as Daylene goes into the bathroom.

Taking the test out of the wrapper, she carefully reads the instructions. She sits down and takes the test. A few minutes go by and she looks at the results. Her heart sinks but she feels happy as well.

“Well?” Jess asks her.

“I’m pregnant.”

“Oh my god, are ya really?” Jess throws her arms around her and hugs her, ” I am so happy for you. I really am.”

“I wish Jason was here. What is he don’t come back.” Daylene says threw her tears.

“Don’t say that. He’ll be back before the little baby is born. I promise you that.”

“I don’t even know if he is okay or not. I didn’t get no letters yet or anythin. I don’t know what I’m going to do, Jess. I just don’t know.”

“Ya know Day, you got me and I’ll help ya whenever ya need me.”

“Thanks.”

Jess sees the mailman pull up. She runs out and comes running back in. “You’d better go home, Day. Paul sent me a letter. I bet yours is at home waitin for ya.”

Daylene hugs Jess again and rushes off to home. There it is the only thing in the mailbox, her fist letter from Jason. She rips open the enevelope and reads the letter:
Hey there Sweetheart, I hope things are good with you back at home. It is hotter than a son of bitch here. I know this took awhile for you to get this letter but I am doing okay. We are travelling down the roads looking for bombs and such. We were getting shot at once but luckily someone got him. Don’t worry I am okay. I can’t wait to hear from you. I miss you so much. Just think only 5 more months and then I can be home with you, making love all night long. I love you, Jason.

She holds the letter to heart and cries a little.

Untitled Haikus

Pretending it’s real
Sparky flings the fuzzy mouse
in the air, making me laugh.

In the gusty March
wind, my kite soars with the birds
string breaks and away it flies.

Something smells extra good
from the kitchen must be
cookies. I help myself.

Review on Last Best Chance

Published by J Scott under news thoughts

Okay, I finally had the oppurtunity to watch Last Best Chance last night. Of course after the rerun of CSI. Anyway, I understand the point of the movie, which by the way is the possibility of a nuclear attack on America from terrorist cells in the Middle East.

That is all the movie about. The film is well done except in my opinion, too short. It was only 45 minutes where I was expecting a full length movie. But with that aside it starts in Russia between two guys one is to steal nuclear material for the other guy’s clients (Al Quadea). So somewhere in the former Soviet he goes into a nuclear store room and steals 2 warheads. The story evolves from there to the warheads are on their way to the United States. Also the movie points out, at least in my opinion, is the slowness of intelligence coming into the White House or intelligence they feel is nothing really to special but really has importance.

There was one part when the White house finds out about the plan to steal the warheads. But it is too late as it already happened. The White House finds out later and then they get in panic mode as because they don’t know where the warheads are or where they are going.

The Nuclear Threat Initative who produced this movie claim that some of this movie is based on fact and other parts based on the very likelihood of something happening. Pretty much coming to conclusions from respected politicians and scientists.

So if you would like to have one for yourself go here: www.lastbestchance.com or www.nuclearthreatintiative.org for your free DVD. Check it out, it just might open your eyes to danger we thought didn’t exsist anymore since there was the Soviet Union.

Have a Super Sunday and don’t forget to root for the Steelers!!!

The husband says, “What??”

The wife explains that he must not be in tune with her emotional needsas a woman.

The husband realizes that nothing is going to happen tonight and he might as well deal with it.The next day the husband takes her shopping at a big department store. He walks around and has her try on three very expensive outfits andthen tells his wife,”We’ll take all three of them”.

Next they go over and get matching shoes worth $200 each. Finally they go to the jewelry department and get diamond earrings. The wife is so excited (she thinks her husband has flipped out) She goes for the tennis bracelet. The husband says “but you don’t evenplay tennis, but OK if you like it then let’s get it.”The wife is jumping up and down so excited she cannot even believewhat is going on. She says, “I am ready to go, let’s go to the cashregister.”

The husband says, “No, honey we’re not going to buy all this stuff.”The wife’s face goes blank. “No honey, I just want you to hold this stuff for a while.”
