Awaiting in Snow

Published by User ImageJ Scott at 7:30 pm under poetry corner

Yellow light from the headlights
illuminate the clapboard barn.
a tractor trio of yesteryear sit safely
out of the storm.

Gentle mounds of delicate powdered sugar are piled up against
the barn’s wall.
Tress scantily clad in snowy lingerie
ascend the dark mountain,
Reaching for the unknown.
a ghostly, pink veil lays on the horizon.

Up some ways, is the barn’s mate,
a white house with a bright red door.
a single light floods the front.

Someone inside
looks out.
Seeing a dangerous world
And keeping the light on
And waiting

Because
waiting is

Oblivion.
