Before Today

Published by J Scott under poetry corner

Can you imagine a world
of new green and blue?
Strange creatures we’ve only conjectured
roam a land connected together.
The air reaks of sulphur and foreign
songs and roars ripple through the
landscape.

Can you imagine the feeling of fire?
The light in the night when moon is dark
and the clouds aren’t rivaling.
The amazement of warmth spreading from toes
to head. The taste of meat
cooked over the flames searing the outsides.
When the fire starts
plans begin.

Can you imagine seeing an unspoilt
land of beauty from beside the billowy masts?
Lush and vivacious, air of freshness.
Wafts of hycanith saturate the senses
Untamed- a new start for the failures of the past.

Never learned just repeated.

Can you imagine before today?

My Hair is Beautifully Naked

Published by J Scott under meaningful meanderings

I got some free samples the other day from naked naturals, a shampoo company that uses all natural ingredients instead of chemicals like those lauryl sulfates. Sure they may sound nice but they are chemicals nonetheless.

Chemicals is the last thing I need to put in my hair, especially after all that I have done to my hair in the past. I have dyed it, permed it, bleached it and back in the 90’s I went hairspray crazy. I love trying shampoo espcially natural shampoo.

The shampoo from Naked Naturals is to make my hair stronger by 7 times. Another thing that is important to me because I have long hair and what good is having long hair if it is isn’t strong.

The verdict? I like it, it makes my hair feel nice and smells nice. The use natural scents as well but this is not overpowering like some shampoos it is light and fresh like a spring day. They sent me a coupon I might have to splurge and try some of the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.
If you care about your hair, the environment and animals then you are going to really enjoy Naked Naturals. My hair feels really great, I might just wear it down today instead on top of my head.

Have a good hair day!

My Life 2/29/o8

Published by J Scott under meaningful meanderings

Happy Leap Day! I knew someone who had their birthday on leap day. If I had a birthday once every four years I would definitly have a party. Leap Day is a little odd though but I suppose the logic behind it does make sense.

I know I love the snow and all but I am sick of it. Yesterday, my daughter and I went out in the snow and we were out there for maybe 20 minutes. Wow. It was only like 10 F yesterday when we were out. Tomorrow is March and well I am hoping spring will soon be here.

Sorry, I haven’t written a new Weekly Shorts story, I worked on the story I am submitting to the contest. It is between 3000 and 3500 words. I have edited it several times already and I think I will do another read through tonight and send it away. I don’t want to divulge too much about it because I don’t want to ruin the story. After the contest has been ran I will post it here! Have no fear

Have a great leap day!

I’ll See You When I See You

Published by J Scott under poetry corner

On your last breath
exhaling your being into the universe,
swinging from the stars
until a new beginning
sends you back into this world

Never will I know it.

After you sleep, once born
In my dreams we’ll meet as
how you are to me,
meeting for no reason
no secret message from beyond.
Maybe, we’ll meet in Paris at a cafe
or some unkown place

I’ll see you when I see you
for that’s the best that can be possible
Till the day we meet
again
under different light

I’ll see you when I see you
whilst I close my eyes tonight
I hope you are there.

To Visit the Land Down Under

Published by J Scott under wanderlust

My friend, M, went to Autralia on her junior year abroad and she told me all about it. I always wanted to visit there because I thought it looked beautiful. Once I am a big bad author and I am spending some time living it up in London, I think I would give DialaFlight a call and talk about a flight to Australia and plan a hell of a holiday!

I would want to make sure that I have a whole month so I can visit the entire country. Sure, I would want to visit some of the tourist stuff like Sydney Harbor but I would like to really meet the people the of Australia and explore places where the locals go. I think that would be much more fun!

Gotta love those dreams!

Afterthoughts on the President of the United States?

Published by J Scott under weekly shorts

Hello all, the other day I added the newest addition to the Weekly Shorts Family, The President of the United States? The person who asked for this story asked for MIB (men in black) story. Now, I have seen both movies too many times to count so I as was writing this, I found it very difficult not to mimic the movie. All in all I do think the story is okay. I do like the comments such as my dad left. He asked what happened to the real president? With a sentence or two I can clear all misconceptions up but I need to know them first. Sometime what I see in my head is different than what lands on paper.

Weekly Shorts has some exciting stuff coming up with a variety of genres and characters! Are you excited, I sure am. But I am always looking for new ideas and why not leave yours here at the Weekly Shorts page and join in the revolution today!!

You think my stories are garbage well I am entering the Bebo Author Short Story Contest, put your money where mouth is and enter a story yourself!

Crack Open an Oyster and Enjoy!

Published by J Scott under meaningful meanderings

One oyster walks into a darkened bar and orders a drink. He looks around the bar to notice a beautiful shell sitting next to him. He touches the shell with his foot and says, “Boy oh boy you feel clammy” Okay so maybe I shouldn’t quit my day job, I may be a writer but I am no comedian. I don’t know just thought I would start with a joke about oysters.

I love oysters. I have eaten them raw and I never been sick. Okay I never ate them I more or less let them slide down my throat. Nonetheless not everyone who eats raw oysters will become sick, only certain people will. I never knew this but I learned something new today. After browsing through beoysteraware.com, I learned some things about eating raw oysters. Persons who have a weak immune system, diabetes or liver disease should avoid eating raw seafood period. This puts you at extreme risk for the bacteria that can make you very ill.

You know oysters are very tasty fried. Okay I know not too great for the heart but think that oysters are good for you in general so in my reasoning having the fried oysters can’t be all that bad. Take a look at the beoysteraware.com site and then enjoy and huge plateful of Gulf oysters.

Bon Apetit!

Published by J Scott under cool contests

Okay everyone, I just want to make sure that anyone who is interested in Bebo Author’s short story contest will be ending in about three weeks.  The reason I mention this is because we all need the time to compose or rework our masterpiece. In fact I started working on mine last night. I am tres excited about it. This is one that is brand spanking new. Hopefully, I keep my words to medium level. I am really trying not surpass 4000 words but I do think that might be a little much. And guess what it is a mystery story!! So wish me luck. I know there are couple of other people that are entering so why not give yourself a shot!

The prizes are amazing such as web hosting plus wordpress blog for one year, gift certificates and a bunch of other stuff. I don’t want to hear that you don’t know how to write, that is baloney. If your a blogger your a writer and why not jump from blog writing to fiction writing. The step isn’t that big, plus look to your life and find inspiration.

For complete rules, prizes and bios of the judges please check out the Short Story Competition rules page!

Good luck and happy writing!

Firefly Chapter 6

Published by J Scott under firefly

Packing was stressful and strenuous for the girls. Aunt Beth told them they can do their new room any way they wanted. Fred helped Beth but stayed far from Carrie and Ray.

“This blows,” Ray said.

“Yeah I know. I don’t know why they have to get married anyway,” Carrie replied.

“At least we’ll be close to EJ”

“That is the only good thing. You think he really loves her?”

“How should I know? They’ve been going out for a while so I guess.”

“Yeah, I know. That is what is weird about the whole thing we barely know him. He doesn’t know us. I don’t even know his boys’ names.”

“What does it matter anyway? The way I see it, we have a little more than a year and we don’t have to live with them,” Ray said.

“It’s going to be a long year.”

Carrie’s phone rang, she didn’t recognize the number but answered it anyway, “hello.”

“Carrie, it’s Bryce,” a cool voice on the other end said.

Carrie’s heart skipped a beat. He finally called. She almost gave up on him. Now she was sure that they were more than a booty call. “Hi Bryce, how’s it going?”

Ray heard that and cursed silently. She knew what he was calling for and she knew

Carrie would leap into action and rush over there. Ray wouldn’t try and stop her, Carrie had to learn things for herself. Like forgetting how much she drank or remembering their first time. Although she missed the old Carrie, she loved the party girl Carrie as well. She knew Carrie felt liberated.

“It’s good. So I’m having a party. You girls wanna come?”

“Yeah we’ll be there,” Carrie replied, “what about EJ, is he coming?”

“I thought it could be just us three,” Bryce answered.

“Even better, what time?”

“Anytime.”

“We’ll be there in a little bit.” Carrie hung up. “Ray we got to get dressed. We’re going to Bryce’s.”

“How are we getting there?” Ray asked. “Is EJ coming?”

“Nope. Bryce only wants us. I wonder if Aunt Beth will let us use her car.”

“Don’t know. Ask her.”

Carrie yelled down the stairs and she came up.

“What is it girls?”

“Can we borrow your car? Michelle wants us to come over and study. We’ve got a test on Thursday,” Carrie said smoothly like she rehearsed it.

She fished for the keys in her pocket and pulled them out, “I want Carrie driving,” Aunt Beth said.

“Yeah okay,” Ray said.

“What time will you be home?”

“Late, we’ll call if we stay. Is it okay?” Carrie said.

“Uh huh. Promise you’ll be careful,” Beth hugged the girls.

After she left the room, Ray sprang into action picking out a slutty outfit and then another to go over top of it.

“Ready,” Ray asked.

“Yeah.”

“That was a good performance, Carrie. I didn’t think you could lie to her like that. You guys are so close.”

“She’s got her own problems now and I’ve got mine,” Carrie said.

The girls went downstairs with their book bag.

“Where are you going?” Fred asked appearing from the darkened living room.

“Michelle’s. Like it is any of your business anyhow,” Carrie retorted.

He moved closer until he was inches a way from their faces, “you might run over Beth now but as soon as you are in my house, it will be my rules and there will be no more coming and going as you please. Do you understand me?”

“Yeah. We ain’t stupid,” Ray snapped.

“That’s another thing,” he continued, “there will be some attitude adjustments.”

“Whatever,” said Ray and pushed him aside to go by.

Once they were in the car Carrie exclaimed, “ugh I hate him so much.”

“He’s an ass,” Ray agreed.

Carrie drove halfway and then pulled off. They took off their top layer of clothes and put on high boots. Ray fixed Carrie’s hair like she did for the party. Pulling into Bryce’s driveway, they noticed a red car in the driveway. They got out and rang the bell. Today he wore black shorts. Carrie saw that his nipples were pierced. He kissed them on the cheek.

“Are they new?” Carrie asked about the piercings.

“Uh huh. Got them done a couple of weeks ago. Come in.”

He led them to the living room and offered them drinks. They drank but not that much. Ray and Carrie promised each other they wouldn’t get drunk. Carrie felt her worries and problems melt away with each sip, each minute away from home. Bryce came and sat next to Carrie, stroking her hair and kissing her neck. She wanted him more with each kiss.

Ray felt her worries and problems melt away with each sip, each minute away from home. Bryce sat next to Carrie. She Carrie was turned on. Why her? What made Carrie so special? It seemed as though everyone liked Carrie better. Bryce really never got Ray excited but that wasn’t the point it’s because Bryce was on Carrie’s side and playing with here. Then she felt his hand travel to a shared part. Ray relaxed and got into it more and more as Bryce kissed them both.

Afterwards, Bryce and Carrie smoked. It was almost two a.m.. They wondered if they were staying the night. Ray wanted to and she was quite sure Carrie would. Yet, Ray wanted Bryce to sleep with her and lay his head on her breast.

Carrie wanted to stay the night because she hoped for more. Now that she remembered and felt everything without being drunk, Carrie felt amazing. Carrie kissed Bryce and he returned it.

“Look, I gotta to be at work early tomorrow morning,” Bryce said, “give me a call sometime.”

Carrie looked confused so Ray stepped up, “okay no problem, we’ve got to get back home. We’ve got work tomorrow too.”

“Where do you work?” Bryce asked.

“Paper Moon,” Carrie asked.

“Oh yeah, what time?”

“Eleven to close.”

“I’ll stop by. I haven’t been there since I was in high school.”

***

The girls made it home before three. They quietly opened the door to see Fred sitting at the table.

“You didn’t call,” he said.

“We didn’t stay. Aunt Beth knew that,” Carrie replied.

“This is your free pass. Next time, I’m not going to be so nice.”

“Yeah whatever,” Ray said and they slipped upstairs. “He’s such an ass.”

“What does Aunt Beth see in him anyway?”

They got into an oversized tee shirt and crawled into bed.

“Carrie, do you really like Bryce or do you only like him because he likes you,” Ray asked.

“He likes us both. I think about him a lot. I don’t know him all that well but I’m sure we’ll know better each time we’ll hang out. Do you like him?”

“He’s all right I guess.”

Carrie brushed her hair and Ray turned on the t.v.

“Ray, do you like the sex?” Carrie asked.

“It’s okay. I thought it would be better. I just don’t feel totally satisfied.”

“Hmm, I really like it. It’s like what I thought it would be like.”

Carrie loved reading erotica. Ray read it as well. It was another secret they shared. Carrie bought the books in hardback and changed the covers so Aunt Beth wouldn’t discover what they were really reading.

Ray remembered the first time she read erotica, a story about two women. Something stirred inside of her much like the same feeling when Carrie read male/female stories. Ray wondered how she could tell the straightest arrow in the world that she also liked women. Not only that, but Ray liked women more than men. It was fear that Carrie would never accept her, kept Ray’s thoughts secret.
