Romance in Another Place

Posted on | February 8, 2008 |

When I was a senior in high school I went on the senior trip to Orlando. The itinerary had a lot of things to do in Orlando some places I have never been to before when I went with my family. My friends in school either didn’t want to go or didn’t have the money to go so I went pretty much alone with people I only knew from class.

We went to a waterpark that was not Disney owned. I hung out with this girl I sort of friends with and we went into the wave pool and bobbed around in inner tubes. I really don’t remember how the conversation started but I soon found myself talking with this guy and we discovered we had the same birthdays. Our conversation continued well into the evening sun, discovering we had more in common than birthdays, we both like to write poems. I remember asking him if I looked sunburned and he said no I looked tan. He started to look a little pink. We made plans to eat together at the luau at Sea World.

Unfortunately I got sun poisoned and well he wasn’t any better. We met up at the luau as crispy critters, we had a great time. Then we were lead to the dance party. We attempted dancing but we were both in so much pain that it just wasn’t happening. Even though we were burned we had a great time.

After the Florida trip and right before the prom, he called to me as I was getting into the car to leave. It was raining. He asked me to the prom. I said yes. I would have never went to Orlando, I would have never met him. We dated for a couple of months and then we parted ways, as teenage couples do.
