Afterthoughts on Michael and the Red Planet

Posted on | February 19, 2008 |

Hello all, the other day I posted an exciting new addition to Weekly Shorts, Michael and the Red Planet. At first I was slightly intimidated by the request because the person wanted someone like Data from Star Trek. Yes, I watch the show and most of the movies but to recreate a character that is non-human but as human attributes was a little intimidating. I took a deep breath and just wrote. The story takes place on Mars. Other than Earth, I love this planet. My best friend and I tried writing a murder mystery that took place on Mars unfortunately time was against us and we didn’t get far. She,too, loves Mars.  Final word count 1253.

I don’t know what happened to the word count, I guess I am rebelling against myself. It is more like a guide because if you look at “Firefly” and “Seaspring Briar” I can become quite loquacious. I use the 1000 word count more or less as guide to keep the short sweet and simple and internet friendly.

What is coming up on the Weekly Shorts agenda? I know you are all excited to know! Another sci-fi with a character that is MIB, a horror/western, a non fiction piece and some others. I am always looking for more submissions, don’t be shy let your idea be known make it impossible, I will do my best to conquer it! Check out the Weekly Shorts page and leave your awesome idea!

Have a great night!
