Firefly Chapter 6
Packing was stressful and strenuous for the girls. Aunt Beth told them they can do their new room any way they wanted. Fred helped Beth but stayed far from Carrie and Ray.
“This blows,” Ray said.
“Yeah I know. I don’t know why they have to get married anyway,” Carrie replied.
“At least we’ll be close to EJ”
“That is the only good thing. You think he really loves her?”
“How should I know? They’ve been going out for a while so I guess.”
“Yeah, I know. That is what is weird about the whole thing we barely know him. He doesn’t know us. I don’t even know his boys’ names.”
“What does it matter anyway? The way I see it, we have a little more than a year and we don’t have to live with them,” Ray said.
“It’s going to be a long year.”
Carrie’s phone rang, she didn’t recognize the number but answered it anyway, “hello.”
“Carrie, it’s Bryce,” a cool voice on the other end said.
Carrie’s heart skipped a beat. He finally called. She almost gave up on him. Now she was sure that they were more than a booty call. “Hi Bryce, how’s it going?”
Ray heard that and cursed silently. She knew what he was calling for and she knew
Carrie would leap into action and rush over there. Ray wouldn’t try and stop her, Carrie had to learn things for herself. Like forgetting how much she drank or remembering their first time. Although she missed the old Carrie, she loved the party girl Carrie as well. She knew Carrie felt liberated.
“It’s good. So I’m having a party. You girls wanna come?”
“Yeah we’ll be there,” Carrie replied, “what about EJ, is he coming?”
“I thought it could be just us three,” Bryce answered.
“Even better, what time?”
“Anytime.”
“We’ll be there in a little bit.” Carrie hung up. “Ray we got to get dressed. We’re going to Bryce’s.”
“How are we getting there?” Ray asked. “Is EJ coming?”
“Nope. Bryce only wants us. I wonder if Aunt Beth will let us use her car.”
“Don’t know. Ask her.”
Carrie yelled down the stairs and she came up.
“What is it girls?”
“Can we borrow your car? Michelle wants us to come over and study. We’ve got a test on Thursday,” Carrie said smoothly like she rehearsed it.
She fished for the keys in her pocket and pulled them out, “I want Carrie driving,” Aunt Beth said.
“Yeah okay,” Ray said.
“What time will you be home?”
“Late, we’ll call if we stay. Is it okay?” Carrie said.
“Uh huh. Promise you’ll be careful,” Beth hugged the girls.
After she left the room, Ray sprang into action picking out a slutty outfit and then another to go over top of it.
“Ready,” Ray asked.
“Yeah.”
“That was a good performance, Carrie. I didn’t think you could lie to her like that. You guys are so close.”
“She’s got her own problems now and I’ve got mine,” Carrie said.
The girls went downstairs with their book bag.
“Where are you going?” Fred asked appearing from the darkened living room.
“Michelle’s. Like it is any of your business anyhow,” Carrie retorted.
He moved closer until he was inches a way from their faces, “you might run over Beth now but as soon as you are in my house, it will be my rules and there will be no more coming and going as you please. Do you understand me?”
“Yeah. We ain’t stupid,” Ray snapped.
“That’s another thing,” he continued, “there will be some attitude adjustments.”
“Whatever,” said Ray and pushed him aside to go by.
Once they were in the car Carrie exclaimed, “ugh I hate him so much.”
“He’s an ass,” Ray agreed.
Carrie drove halfway and then pulled off. They took off their top layer of clothes and put on high boots. Ray fixed Carrie’s hair like she did for the party. Pulling into Bryce’s driveway, they noticed a red car in the driveway. They got out and rang the bell. Today he wore black shorts. Carrie saw that his nipples were pierced. He kissed them on the cheek.
“Are they new?” Carrie asked about the piercings.
“Uh huh. Got them done a couple of weeks ago. Come in.”
He led them to the living room and offered them drinks. They drank but not that much. Ray and Carrie promised each other they wouldn’t get drunk. Carrie felt her worries and problems melt away with each sip, each minute away from home. Bryce came and sat next to Carrie, stroking her hair and kissing her neck. She wanted him more with each kiss.
Ray felt her worries and problems melt away with each sip, each minute away from home. Bryce sat next to Carrie. She Carrie was turned on. Why her? What made Carrie so special? It seemed as though everyone liked Carrie better. Bryce really never got Ray excited but that wasn’t the point it’s because Bryce was on Carrie’s side and playing with here. Then she felt his hand travel to a shared part. Ray relaxed and got into it more and more as Bryce kissed them both.
Afterwards, Bryce and Carrie smoked. It was almost two a.m.. They wondered if they were staying the night. Ray wanted to and she was quite sure Carrie would. Yet, Ray wanted Bryce to sleep with her and lay his head on her breast.
Carrie wanted to stay the night because she hoped for more. Now that she remembered and felt everything without being drunk, Carrie felt amazing. Carrie kissed Bryce and he returned it.
“Look, I gotta to be at work early tomorrow morning,” Bryce said, “give me a call sometime.”
Carrie looked confused so Ray stepped up, “okay no problem, we’ve got to get back home. We’ve got work tomorrow too.”
“Where do you work?” Bryce asked.
“Paper Moon,” Carrie asked.
“Oh yeah, what time?”
“Eleven to close.”
“I’ll stop by. I haven’t been there since I was in high school.”

The girls made it home before three. They quietly opened the door to see Fred sitting at the table.
“You didn’t call,” he said.
“We didn’t stay. Aunt Beth knew that,” Carrie replied.
“This is your free pass. Next time, I’m not going to be so nice.”
“Yeah whatever,” Ray said and they slipped upstairs. “He’s such an ass.”
“What does Aunt Beth see in him anyway?”
They got into an oversized tee shirt and crawled into bed.
“Carrie, do you really like Bryce or do you only like him because he likes you,” Ray asked.
“He likes us both. I think about him a lot. I don’t know him all that well but I’m sure we’ll know better each time we’ll hang out. Do you like him?”
“He’s all right I guess.”
Carrie brushed her hair and Ray turned on the t.v.
“Ray, do you like the sex?” Carrie asked.
“It’s okay. I thought it would be better. I just don’t feel totally satisfied.”
“Hmm, I really like it. It’s like what I thought it would be like.”
Carrie loved reading erotica. Ray read it as well. It was another secret they shared. Carrie bought the books in hardback and changed the covers so Aunt Beth wouldn’t discover what they were really reading.
Ray remembered the first time she read erotica, a story about two women. Something stirred inside of her much like the same feeling when Carrie read male/female stories. Ray wondered how she could tell the straightest arrow in the world that she also liked women. Not only that, but Ray liked women more than men. It was fear that Carrie would never accept her, kept Ray’s thoughts secret.
