Beth, old and gray lay her head on the pillow and dreamed her favorite memory.
At Charlie’s store back before the war against the Nazis took its toll. Velda, Charlie’s daughter, played the radio. Glen Miller blasted through the tubes. John took Beth’s hand and swung her around without a care in the world. Love besieged them to be foolish. When the song ended, he proposed.
They married and spent newlywed bliss before the war came took him away for good. Another marriage and more children. Her heart still belonged to John.
Beth saw John’s hand and it took forevermore.
