Where Do I Stand?
When I started blogging, I didn’t know there was such a thing as a Google PR (page rank for the web novices). When I started PayPerPost, I was introduced to page rank and I did the research on it to find out what it was. To paraphrase what Google says about their mysterious system it is a measure of page importance but they say it is not important. When I started PayPerPost I had a page rank 4 ( pretty good). I really made the money. Then all of a sudden, I went from 4 to 1 to a big fat 0. Why? Their little measure that is not important to them but when it comes to people selling links they will slash them to nothing. Excuse my French, it is a load of bull.
When it comes to how important your blog is it shouldn’t be some artribary number but something that makes sense. A measure of real traffic, page loads and unique visitors. Think about it, if you are a blogging looking to sell side bar ads or sponsored posts then what is more attractive, in my opinion, a) my blog recieves 100 unique visitors a day and I have a page rank of 0 or b) my blog is a page rank 4 and I have 3 visitors a day. To me, I would rather buy an ad from someone with a lot of traffic as oppsed to page rank. Actually, I have used this when I created a sponsored post for PayPerPost, I used Izea Ranks also known as real ranks because I wanted as many people to see the post as possible.
This makes sense when it comes to buying or selling advertising. You want your message to be seen by a lot of people and the blogger wants to sell a lot. Izea publishes their formula there is no secret and now you can find out you need to work to move your way up to number one. Real Rank is only for bloggers and you are ranked only among bloggers, how is should be. By the way my real rank fluctuates but it falls between 1200-1800 on average, not bad it is the top 20% of all blogs using Real Ranks.
Those are my thoughts, if you are looking to sell side bar space or sponsored posts then check out Izea Ranks, learn about it, sign up for it and stress it to people interested in buying from you!
