At the Diner
I don’t know what it is with me but some how I always seem to be the one person who always recieves bad service at a restaurant. I’ve talked about the “wonderful” service at Tom’s Diner and the incredibly fast service at the Red Robin in Bucks County and here is another story of bad service.
I think the year was 98 or 99, I was in college and my friend was pregnant. We used to eat at the one diner all the time in Quakertown because she always craved something from the menu. Her cousins were in town and one night we went there to eat. There was maybe 8 young people including myself. The waitress comes around and just starts off being rude to everyone. I am telling the truth here, we were very behaved considering we all were young. She messed up the order and I told her nicely and she had a big old attitude. We didn’t stay long. One of the other people there wrote a note on the place mat mentioning the bad service. Being incredibly infuriated, I left a tip of $.10.
While I paid for the check at the register, she came up and threw and I mean threw the dime at me. I don’t think I ever went there again after, we wound up going to the other diner from then on. It was too bad I wasn’t 21 yet because I could have used a giant wine glass after that night.
That waitress could have really benefited from a waitress training video called the Perfect Server from Vat-19. I know people can have their bad days but I think this was beyond bad days. I think the people behind the counter at McDonald’s are typically nicer than she was. Too bad for her, because I always tip 20% and we had decent bill. Oh well maybe she would make more money if she watched a training video.
Have a delightful day!
