Overactive Imagination or Something Else?

I love reading things about the occult, and about hauntings and such. I am a big fan of the show The Hauntingon the Discovery channel. I happened upon a blog called Strange Days, blog about everything paranormal. It made think if I had any paranormal experiences; two jumped out of me right away.
When I was about 13 years old, I lived in Delaware and my room was in the basement. I had a standard issue basement window, you know the kind that you have to pull to open it. Anyway I used to feel that someone was watching more like staring because I know when I know some one was staring. I would hide under the covers until morning. This one time, a storm moved and the basement window was open. I got that strange feeling that someone was staring even in the storm and I hid under the covers. When I awoke the next morning the window was closed. I know I didn’t close the window and someone from the outside wouldn’t close it since I had a screen in the window to keep the bugs out. And my parents wouldn’t come down because they rarely came to my room. Strange…
Later on life, before Sunshine, the boyfriend, his dad and I moved into this house that was built is 1863 in a historic town that gave a lot of govenors to the state of Pennsylvania. I don’t know if Bellefonte is known to be haunted or not but I know the house had something there. There would be times, I would be on the computer and the only one home. The cat would be in the same room as me and I heard foot steps coming up the steps. I knew it wasn’t an old house creak or anything, it really sounded like someone coming up the stairs. My heart would speed up and I would yell out into the hallway and no one would be there. There would be other times, I would be sitting downstairs and watching television and see weird lights out of the corner of my eyes sometimes a misty orange or white. It wasn’t a large amount of light enough to set the retinas off. I am not the only who seen and heard the phenomena either, the boyfriend who doesn’t believe in the supernatural seen and heard those things as well. He tried to rationalize it but gave up. These sounds and light continued off and on until me moved out.
I always wanted to know the history of the house. I just didn’t know where to start.
There are events that happen that can’t be explained, we don’t know everything. And if energy can never be destroyed and our whole being is based on energy then where does it go when we die? It has to go somewhere.

Ooh creepy! I’ve had a similar experience, where I heard footsteps approaching, but no-one was there. Thanks for sharing your experience
