Bejeweled Leaves
Posted on | October 3, 2008 | 4 Comments
Scarlett shows first,
followed by jaundiced and flamed sprites
the rushing of leaves from the road,
swept upward with a bewitching breeze,
pumpkins start to smile devilishly
and apples cascade to the ground.
Where is the sun behind all the gray?
marked in bejeweled leaves,
the last glimpse of honey colored dreams of summer sun
preparing in nakedness before a bleached world
barren of dreams,
forgotten thoughts never remembered
save for the burning fire exposing bits of color and warmth,
fantasies of youth.
Tomorrow the snow will fall and will I be cold still?
