CD Earth is Bringing Back the Good Stuff

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

About seven years ago a friend of mine took to me to Playland, an arcade in State College. He had a friend that worked there, who I was introduced to. To make a long story short the guy who worked at Playland would be the boyfriend. I used to visit him often at work and play games. Sure, I played a lot of the racing games but I found myself drifting to the golden age arcade games like Ms Pac-Man, Galaga and Tetris. Since he was so nice a lot of times I got to play those games for free. And even now, I am always on the look out for the arcade classics either for my computer or for the X-box or PS one.

There is a software club called CDEarthwhere you can find an array of family friendly video games. Including “Greatest Classics Video Games” which you can get free for just trying out the club. These programs work on both Mac OSX and Windows. These are not the original games but they are based on the original games (who know the whole copyright thing is). Really it doesn’t matter to me because it is not the name of the game but the addiction quality of the game. I could play Pac-Man for hours well until my fingers fell off anyway.

It does seem like CDEarth is a great way to increase your software collection that family friendly.

Here is some information from the company:

CDEarth New Games CD - Hours of Wasted and Unproductive Fun

Preview of some of the games on the CD:

2. Gobble up cookies while escaping from hungry ghosts in this updated version of the classic arcade game.
3. Smiling bubbles. Don’t let the friendly smiles fool you. Group the falling bubbles to make them explode before they reach the top.
4. Pop balloons with a harpoon and avoid being hit in this fast-paced game.
5. Run and jump through multiple worlds, fighting off enemies by jumping on them or bumping them from below.
6. Eat your tomatoes. How many tomatoes can you smash in ten short minutes? If you have the time to spare, this game has the vegetables just waiting to be eliminated!
7. Colorful, addicting game where you quickly lineup blocks of the same color before time runs out.
8. Guide a lost traveler from outer space, through towers and across cemeteries to collect what he needs to rebuild his spaceship.

Champagne Dreams Will Move Soon

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

For those that read both this blog and Champagne Dreams, I will moving Champagne Dreams to a subdomain off of this one. There are two reasons for doing this, I already have 2 domains in my name and for a regular dot com it is $10. Not that is a lot of money but this cheaper and just as effective. I got the help email from Go daddy today. Also healthymoola. info is ready for me to upload it the web and put on wordpress.

I have decided on the free hosting that came with the domain because this is the blog, I work the hardest on for visitors and I want a lot of people to come here because of that I don’t think I need a ton of bandwitdh ( I’m not sure but I thuink it is 5 gb of disc space and I gb of bandwidth per month) if it doesn’t work out I guess I will move to the same server as this one. I know I don’t get it too much either, I will keep you posted.

The Internet is So Big- Make it Smaller

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

There is a insurance salesman in my town that has his face plastered everywhere, on billboards and he even has a Clayton-mobile (his first name is Clayton) which is a fancy new car with his face on it. I said to the boyfriend, he should come here and buy some advertising from me. Not that he has asked but the normal question would be why should because I am only dealing with local people. Answer because local people look stuff up on the internet for stuff in their town or near to their town.  With this is in mind there is a site that does make internet smaller and you can easily perform a local search.

The website has an easy to remember name local.com. Local.com is partenered with superpages.com, yelp.com, citysearch.com, yellowpages.com. What this means for you can find driving directions, business hours, contact information and reviews. You can even review a business or website listed in on the site. Everyone uses the internet to look for local business but I do find it kind of a pain to use different search engines if I want the phone number for the local pizza place. This is the place to go.

When you go to the website, it already comes up with a location. It is already tosearch locally. This may not be my exact location because of proxy servers but close enough. You can’t get any easier than this! I think this will be better than using the phone book because sometimes when you know a new business opened up but of course it won’t be in the phone book for months and 411 costs money. This is a quick and simple way to get the information you need.

Handmade Items

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

So while looking through Social Spark, considering of running another spark I came across this spark that I had to check out. It is from a lady named Willow who runs an etsy shop and she sells items that she made herself even clothing. She even hand sews her clothing. Her clothing is geared to people who are interested in Medieval, Renaissance and pagan clothing. She also carries incense, clothes for children and jewelry. I am a sucker for handmade jewelry. One of my favorite pieces is the Black and Red Egyptian Necklace. And there is free shipping jewelry to anywhere in the world. I also like the Fairys of Water earrings as well.

If this is something you are interested in then do check out Sacred Oak at etsy.

What Do You Think?

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

I mentioned the other day, I was searching for Windows 98 SE. I put a bid on one through ebay. I don’t live on ebay. I just go there because I look for something I need because many times it is cheaper. I haven’t sold anything in awhile because I just haven’t I am thinking of holding another yard sale in the near future.

Anyway on Friday, I recieve a message from the seller and asked why I am bidding on this? I told him, then another message comes and asks should he hold onto this, is he making a mistake selling it. I write back and ask if he has changed his mind and also wrote that Win 98 SE has been going pretty high for sale. Another message comes today and says “you have low feedback and the feedback you do have looks sketchy. ”

WTF?? Okay my number is 16 and I have 100% postitive feedback, the last few feedback left for me was “thanks, quick pay” (yeah real skecthy, I paid quickly) “great ebayer ” (horrible I know), another few that say fast payment hell it must mean I am not honest because I always pay quick through paypal. Whatever. So I was outbid, really no big surprise there…

To be nosy, I looked at the top bidder and his feedback score was 36 or something and guess what out his last few transactions on ebay, the person dealt with this seller 14% of the time. What would you think? Something fishy in my opinion. Of freaking well, I will spend my money somewhere else.

Have a nice day!

Cheap Software

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

Earlier today I was looking on Ebay for Windows 98 SE for the boyfriend’s dad’s laptop. What a rip, why would someone charge almost $70 for an operating system when you can buy upgrades cheaper than that or even buy Windows xp for a little bit more. Anyway I don’t think Win 98 SE is worth that much anyway. I do like discount software.

At softwaresupplygroup.com I can find lots of great programs for deep discounts for all sorts of programs from brands like Adobe and Microsoft or I can buy Kaspersky Internet Security. I actually need this for my laptop because I have none on there right now since I moved from AOL dial up to Verizon DSL. It is only 29.95 and adds extra security for WiFi connections as well. I am not wireless yet on my laptop but I will be soon.

Question answered about why Win 98 SE is so expensive, I took a look at the discount software blog yes people still need Win 98 even Win 95. Here I am thinking of upgrading my computer to XP.

Check it out if you are looking to upgrade your programs or buy new ones.

Have a great day!

Are Comment Spammers Paid?

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

I  wonder  this because  I am always checking  Akismet  for comments that  are  okay. What is weird is  that   some days a person with the same name and email leave three different  comments two are defintely spam and one would be something normal with something that  adds to the conversation.  I see all the  time  those flashy  online banner ads that  scream  stuff  like,  “make  gobs   of   money  working  on th internet,”  quit   your  job and make money online” they  are very tempting offers but I know there  is   always   a  catch for something.  I  wonder is  making   spammy comments a  job  people actually  get  paid   to do? Don’t you think  for the  most part, this whole idea is moot because  how many bloggers  actually  let these  comments  go through.

When I was on blogger and  I  just started  out, I didn’t have  my   first comment for  months.  I was  so excited  because   I  love  comments. Well later on I find out  the   comment was Spam and  it  didn’t  move  over here.  I  have a  tough  time getting  rid of those  spammers that  actually leave  a   worthwhile  comment.   I  guess they  are  getting  a free  link.

Just my thoughts…

Choosing Internet Service

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

Anymore today, it seems like more and more people have the Internet. Compared to when I was a teenager Internet access was a commodity. With newer technology there a lot of options for the Internet. There is "nofollow">DSL, cable, and good old dial-up. I am very happy with the DSL service I have it is a lot better than dial up and believe it or not, it doesn’t cost too much more than dial-up unless you have free internet service.

With all the choices of type of service and the various service providers, how can one choose what is the best service and best provider for your needs? Before doing anything why not browse Get ISP. Info this is a comprehensive guide to all services including VoiP ( broadband telephone such as Vonage) the cheapest carriers with the cheapest plans. This is a good way to start if you are looking for a different Internet service. Plus there also deals from the top providers as well.

If you want to get a fast ISP that costs less such as Juno, PeoplePC or NetZero than check out getisp.info.  There is also  information on how to speed up your computer and an article about the history of the Internet. It is a good site to look at  for information as  well.

Ticket Exchange

Published by J Scott under interesting internet

Let’s take a moment and think have you ever bought tickets for the hottest concert coming to your town 6 months before hand. Really you have every single intention of going to the concert, letting your hair down and rocking out. Then something unforseen happens, maybe you changed jobs and you can’t get off of work, a family emergency I am sure you get the idea and now you can’t go to the concert. These things happen, you could try selling the tickets using a service like Free Ticket Exchange.

So what is Free Ticket Exchange? It is a free service where you take the tickets to the concert you can’t go to and post them online and then someone or many come along and you choose the person who should buy the tickets. Free Ticket Exchange uses the token system. You sell your tickets for tokens and then you take your tokens and find another even that you can attend perhaps a Penn State home football game because that is always a rocking good time.

This is great because once you have some tokens you can find something else and you don’t have to leave the site or read several different newspapers. Because stuff happens to everyone.

If you have tickets to something be it a concert, baseball game or anything and you can’t go then check out Free Ticket Exchange.
