Waiting for September
Autumnal smells
interjects itself on late summer days.
Golden sunshine comforting a
picked corn,
halos the ancestral trees.
Waiting for September.
Apples red and ready
for teacher still hang n
their leafy homes,
Waiting for September.
Windows flung open,
blackboards, desks glimmer
Fresh wax creeps across
squared floors,
Waiting for September.
Crisp new clothes,
perfect backpacks stocked with
pointed number two pencils, capped pens
and written paper sit
Waiting for September.
Get it all [...]
Crude Canvas
sunshine’s drawing
I bought myself
a new notebook,
spiral bound, easy to carry.
With blank pages, ready for my poems
A place for my words,
strung out happy
little jewels of wisdom.
Yet, the pages are filling up fast
with doodles not of my own
creation,
big bubble like people
with teeth or not. Doodles
belonging to someone else.
I bought myself a
new notebook
but its really her crude canvas.
100 Years from Now
Come by the river
where the grassy pillows await
your head,
skies a lit in propane blue.
Empty sky
mirror reflection of the sullen pool
swelling by smooth rocks
a hundred years from now
when blissful days in snow
are a memory created from words,
no anticipation of the gentle snowflake
to drop from the sky.
THE WORLD IN DARKNESS WHILE WEARING SHORTS.
No time to rewind
dirt and [...]
Proximity
The haze that is the sun pushes us inside
The shorter days in autumn keeps us closed
the snow, wicked and whipping locks the door
succulent raindrops is only another reason to stay
Inside, in front of a screen where the world
brought to us in pages of pictures and blurbs
being whoever we want to be, creating a [...]
Combustion
We are learning to make fire
how the passion swells
with foot steps treading
on wet pavement.
The too quiet of nothing
before reality slips into dark dreamworlds
We are learning to make fire
to have desire at finger tips
pissing it way with
feeling of times ending soon
rushing from kindling to kindling
We are learning to make fire
and I burn.
When I Sit Down to Write
When I sit down to write
The world as the rest see it
Obliterates into my world
Where I make the rules
Where I am the creator
Where I am the sovereign body
Where I control
To sit beside them
My persons I have created
We chat over coffee
Or Jack to me it doesn’t matter
Truth comes in all forms
They tell me their story
I listen [...]
Vanish
Meteorites crash, bombard moon
where we would be with out silver night light
romance and dreams would disappear
written and tossed
on crumpled paper from years back
when you thought you were someone
with something worthy
sipping coldness from a straw soaked in pity
gravel driveway lead to a dark house
nestled in trees
empty and adjacent to
rotting trees, gnarled roots stop entry
once was a [...]
Independence Day
Rock n roll carried on humid breezes
charcoal blazes atmosphere
hearty drunk laughter
spilt beer
ants swimming in Pepsi.
Get out the Harleys.
And classic Chevy’s
freshly washed and waxed
take a ride
with the windows down
turn the dial to classic rock
Remember when the music was new
and hearts were wild?
Night curtains the day of picnic
when the first star is seen
shoot fireworks made in China.

Empty-
winter’s breath
shudders against silver phalanges
kitten gray bark cracks
for another year.
Enough-
too many winters
too many losses
deciding no more
Cold-
a dream be warm and green
Enough
of shrinking space
force [...]
An April Day on July
Green juxtaposed with gray
unbefitting for July
olive dreams carry sunsweet raspberries to the shadow
cowering in sun dusk
melted steel
lacing through
corridors.
Images slow to recover
from haze sent by reprimands
Damned is the day
that doesn’t hold its end of the
bargain of pleasantness
and
Damned is the day
that is today.
